DEMONS, DREAMS & DRIVES
Welcome to an intense acting adventure!
You will connect with your inner DEMONS. They are going to confront you with you beliefs of who you really are.
You will explore your DREAMS. They are going to guide you into your subconscious and expand your ideas of what choices you can make.
You will get into your DRIVES. They are going to get you into action and make you alive in your acting.
The foundation of this method is in the learnings of Stanislavski, the heart is in the Chubbuck Technique (and other techniques such as the Meisner Technique and Method Acting) and the steppingstone is the legacy of the psycho-analyst Carl Jung.
We will work on contemporary and classical scenes from movies, TV-series and stage plays. The work will be both analytical, emotional, physical as well as intuitive – using your whole capacity as an actor and human being. It will take you to all the messiest parts inside of you. It can be quite an overwhelming process, but more important; a deeply rewarding one.
Working language is English.
WORKING WITH THE DEMONS
DEMONS is a concept found in almost every culture around the world. It was popularized in the west by Carl Jung under the name of “The Shadow”. The DEMON is any aspect of the unconscious mind that we have rejected, denied or disowned. Plainly, it’s anything within us that we are unwilling to face – what we shoved down as deep as possible inside of us – both the darker aspect of ourselves as our shame, our fear, our phobias or traumas, and the lighter, as our greatness, our success and our beauty. Hidden deep down inside of us, the DEMONS are in fact powerful energy sources. They are closely linked to our creativity, and if we connect to them they open up new dimensions that can move us through creative blocks and make us look upon our artistic journey in a new light.
THE PROCESS
PREPARATIONS
A. You get your scene and your scene partner. You watch the movie, tv-series or read the play script. You study the texts and exercises in the course compilation. You start the rehearsals with your scene partner – online or in real life.
B: You get a video instruction with exercises, and you start exploring your dreams, your perceptions and inner pictures. The journey to the subconscious begins.
C: You and your scene partner meet with Elisabet for a 45 minute session online where you connect to the drives, the needs and the passions of your character.
IN FALKENBERG
In real life. Five days in beautiful Falkenberg to deepdive and find, reveal, explore and integrate our demons in a creative process, where we will use these rejected sides of us to win. The alchemical journey of turning shit into gold.
VENUE:
ABF Falkenberg, Lasarettsgatan 11, 311 34 Falkenberg, Sweden, and online.
Falkenberg is a beautiful little seaside town on the Swedish westcoast. A direct train from Copenhagen Airport stops at the train station (a 3 hour ride). It is a popular tourist spot and a good idea to book accommodation as early as possible. A list of nearby accommodations is available on request.
TIMES:
1 July – You will get a scene and a scene partner and begin your preparation work.
8 July – You will get a video with introductions and exercises
13-14 July – one 45 minute session with your scene partner and Elisabet ONLINE to go deeper.
22-26 July – 9.00-17.00 all days, in FALKENBERG, SWEDEN.
